The Brain Body Method®
The brain and body connections
Hormonally Sensitive Women
The Brain Body Method® is an integrated, trauma-informed and neuro-affirming approach to hormonal sensitivity based on the scientific research that I have joined up in order to write my book. This unique approach is entirely dedicated to hormonally sensitive women like me.
It is a combination of evidence-based coaching and therapy modalities that I have used personally over the years in order to help heal and understand my own attachment wounds, complex trauma, psyche, nervous system and hormonal sensitivity.
Approaches that overly focus on symptoms miss the root cause, limiting growth and restoration. Integrative approaches that combine bottom-up (body-based, feeling) alongside top-down (cognitive thinking) are rapidly developing to meet this need.
The modalities and therapeutic approaches integrated within my Brain Body Method® incorporate the below core pillars as part of nervous system regulation, trauma recovery coaching and individual therapy.
This is an unrivalled approach to group and 1-1 coaching and psychoeducation in the science of hormonal sensitivity.

Evidence based sound and music therapies based on Polyvagal Theory and the nervous system such as Dr Stephen Porges – The Safe and Sound Protocol are already helping hundreds of thousands of people unlock their nervous system’s innate ability to heal, enabling them to lead more connected, regulated and resilient lives.
Beyond ancient wisdom, emerging clinical needs and practical advantages in the modern world, the science of how music affects the brain and body has accelerated in recent years. We now know that music evokes many brain regions and enhances autonomic regulation, leading to better therapeutic outcomes and well-being. This is now being extensively researched and evidenced within the field of neuroscience and health with significant clinical results.
In my book, I connect all of these and the science of the nervous system, Polyvagal Theory and the vagus nerve to hormonal sensitivity and neurodevelopmental and mental health-related challenges that have a holistic impact on overall function, influencing emotions, thoughts, behaviour and physical and hormonal health.
There is a need for solutions that address shifting the narrative from just treating a condition and symptoms in isolation to support mental and physical wellness through each individual’s innate capacity for healing.
Understanding
Trauma, hormones and healing
According to research and evidence-based practice, unprocessed traumatic experiences can have a profound impact on individuals, leading to symptom manifestations in mental health, hormonal sensitivity and chronic health conditions.
When traumatic experiences are prolonged and repeated, and early attachment systems ruptured, additional symptoms of pathological dissociation, chronic emotional dysregulation, somatization, and altered schemas about the self, others, and the world manifest (van Dijke et al., 2015).
Hormonally Sensitive Women may present with a myriad complex mix of overlapping neuro-bio-psycho-social struggles that are unique to the past and present context and circumstances for each unique individual.
This consideration calls on therapists to provide evidence-based practice that incorporates both “top-down” and “bottom-up” therapeutic modalities and techniques that are both neuroaffirming and trauma-specific.
Tailored to each client’s goals, needs, and presenting neuro-bio-psycho-social symptomatology.
Whilst simultaneously honouring the ways in which behavioural, relational, emotional, and psychological patterns of chronically traumatized persons also represent defensive adaptations in order to manage overwhelming stress (Cook et al., 2003).
Following an approach to trauma treatment that recognizes the importance of both “top-down” and “bottom-up” therapeutic modalities and techniques to hormonal sensitivity and healing is why I am integrating two of such modalities,The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
There is an intricate connection between the autonomic nervous system and overall health and psychological well-being rooted in our biology – you cannot separate your life story and your hormonal profile from your nervous system and your environment.
